DIRECTV Launches Local and Broadcast Network Channels in Palm Springs, Calif.

DIRECTV is now delivering local news, weather, sports and prime-time broadcast network programming via satellite in digital-quality picture and sound for viewers in Palm Springs, Calif.

 

Local channels and broadcast networks available in the Palm Springs designated market area include: KUNA/TMO, KDFX/FOX, KPSP/CBS, KMIR/NBC, KESQ/ABC and PBS. DIRECTV is working with the owners of the MNT affiliate and hopes to add the station to the DIRECTV lineup in the near future.

 

DIRECTV now offers standard-definition local channels in 146 markets, representing approximately 94 percent of U.S. TV households.

Beginning today, Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008

 

HOW:

To receive local and broadcast network programming in Palm Springs DIRECTV customers must have MPEG-4 equipment and a five LNB Multi-Satellite – Ka/Ku Compatible Dish, and upgrade to the CHOICE XTRA(R) programming package at $44.99 per month. New DIRECTV customers can subscribe to the new CHOICE(TM) programming package for $39.99, which includes more than 140 movie, sports, family, music and local broadcast network channels.
