Melodeo, Inc., a leader in delivering music and other media via mobile phones and the web, today announced the availability of their industry-leading mobile entertainment platform on the T-Mobile(R) Sidekick(R) iD and Sidekick 3. Melodeo's Mobilcast mobile entertainment service, which provides on-demand access to thousands of radio programs, is currently available for download in T-Mobile's content catalog.
Mobilcast provides wireless customers with on-demand access to more than 150,000 music and entertainment programs including radio shows from popular sources such as NPR, MSNBC and CNN, as well as thousands of independent programs from all over the world. Mobilcast customers enjoy a wide selection of music, comedy, news, sports, and other entertainment programs for a low monthly subscription fee of $3.99.
"Our mobile entertainment services are a perfect fit for T-Mobile Sidekick customers," said James Billmaier, CEO of Melodeo, Inc. "Consumer demand for mobile entertainment is at an all-time high, and we're uniquely positioned to help wireless operators tap into this business."
Sidekick's platform, developed by Danger, Inc., is comprised of powerful, multi-tasking application software installed on purpose-built mobile devices, a network-based service that does the 'heavy-lifting' of processing data before sending it to the devices, and a standards-based development platform for the creation of compelling content and services.
Melodeo's mobile entertainment services are now available to more than 50 million wireless customers in the U.S. through Alltel, AT&T, SunCom and now T-Mobile. Melodeo's services are also available to millions of international customers through deals with Rogers Wireless in Canada, 3 in the U.K.; China Unicom, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group in China; TDC in Denmark, Korean Telecom Freetel (KTF) in Korea, M1 in Singapore and Telstra in Australia. Melodeo's mobile entertainment services are compatible with the majority of mobile handsets on the market.
