Lily Collins, the 18-year-old daughter of British pop icon Phil Collins, has been hired to report on fashion and entertainment for Nickelodeon.

Paula Kaplan, an executive vice president with the Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group, announced Monday that Collins will be seen in spots on the kid-friendly cable television network, reporting from the sets of Nick series, movie premieres, awards shows, concerts and other celebrity events.

Collins has also signed on to serve as the host of daily 30-second updates created to keep tweens up-to-date on music, movie, fashion and celebrity news. She is to contribute reports to the weekend TEENick block, as well.

Lily is a natural in front of the camera, Kaplan said in a statement. She can think on her feet and is comfortable interviewing a wide range of people — from the biggest stars in Hollywood to the kid who just got slimed at the mall. As a rising young star herself, she’s totally plugged into the latest entertainment and pop culture trends.

Born in England, Collins moved to Los Angeles with her mother when she was 6. She is studying broadcast journalism at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication.
