Feb. 28–Genesius Theatre presents the musical revue “He Sang/She Sang” on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at its 10th and Walnut streets stage.

The show, in which the guys sing songs typically sung by the girls and vice-versa, is the group’s fourth annual musical revue cabaret benefit.

The revue features sentimental ballads, energetic tunes and comedic songs from such Broadway hits as “The Full Monty,”"Cabaret,”"Chicago,”"Annie Get Your Gun,”"Guys & Dolls,”"1776″ and “Bye Bye Birdie.”

Also included are songs by the likes of Billy Joel, The Jackson Five, Dolly Parton, Ray Charles, Faith Hill, Jefferson Airplane and Van Morrison.

“The concept behind ‘He Sang/She Sang’ is to offer new and unique interpretations of these time-honored songs by switching up their Yin and Yang a bit,” said show director/creator L.J. Fecho. “It’s not really that women will take on men’s roles or vice-versa, but more so they will bring feminine and masculine aspects to gender specific songs. The show will have the occasional drag role reversal, just to spice things up a bit.”

The cast of 30 includes representatives of all the local major theater groups.

Parental guidance is suggested for the show’s mature content, adult language and sexual innuendo.

Tickets cost $25, with proceeds going toward building programs at Genesius.
