Pop Culture Q&A: Topher Grace Makes Transition to Movies

March 4, 2008
Repost This

Q: Where is Topher Grace on “That `70s Show”? He played Eric Forman on it. I never see him make a TV show or movie. I want his birthday, too. And where was he born?

A: When “That `70s Show” ended in 2006, as Variety notes, Grace was able to take “a much needed break from television” to focus on movies _ and, thanks to that show’s long run, he had the money to do it. In 2007, he played Venom in the hugely successful “Spider-Man 3,” and he has more films in the works. A native of Darien, Conn., Grace will turn 30 on July 29.

Q: I would like to know what has become of Edward Woodward, the actor who starred in “The Equalizer” in the late 1980s. I followed every one of his shows and was disappointed the show was canceled. I never saw reruns of his show, but now understand the first year of “The Equalizer” is now on DVD. Will more be released and will we ever see him again in movies, on TV or will he ever release more CDs of his music?

A: As is the case with Topher Grace above, Woodward has continued to work even if it is not in a weekly series. One recent credit was the miniseries “Five Days,” which aired on HBO last year and will be on DVD on March 11. I do not know of any recent music recordings. According to the Internet Movie Database, he has four children from two marriages who have also gone into acting.

Q: Can you please tell me if “ER” is ever going to come back on. It has “quietly” gone from the listings and other shows put in its place. I have been a viewer from the beginning and would at least like to see some closing episode if that is what it is going to be.

A: According to NBC, “ER” is expected back with new episodes on April 10.

Q: What was the name of the song at the end of the season finale of “Prison Break” and who sang it?

A: That was Rebekah Del Rio’s recording of “Llorando,” a Spanish-language version of the Roy Orbison hit “Crying.” Very good. It was also used in the movie “Mulholland Drive,” and can be found on the soundtrack for that film, as well as on Del Rio’s CD “All My Life/Toda Mi Vida.”

Q: There is a MasterCard commercial with a lady who is singing a song from “The Sound of Music,” then she dives off a cliff. Who is she?

A: According to the Internet Movie Database, that is singer-songwriter and actress Penelope Fortier performing “My Favorite Things.” You can find out more about her, and hear some other music, at her MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/penelopefortier.

Q: Approximately 15 to 20 years ago, there was a show starring Lee Horsley. He was a handsome cowboy and I think a private investigator. I enjoyed him and the show, although I can’t remember the name of it. Whatever happened to him? I’ve never seen him since.

A: First; the show you are remembering is probably “Matt Houston,” which aired on ABC from 1982 to 1985. Horsley played the title character, a wealthy man who was a private eye.

According to The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows, Horsley’s later TV credits included the ABC miniseries “North and South Book II” (1989), CBS “Western Paradise” (later called “Guns of Paradise”) (1988-91), CBS’ “Bodies of Evidence” (1992-93), the syndicated “Hawkeye” (1994-95) and NBC drama “Wind on Water” (1998). More recently, he has hosted a couple of shows for the Outdoor Channel, and according to at least one report, he is writing Western novels.
