INDIE rockers Kasabian will headline this year’s Creamfields music festival, the ECHO can reveal.

Organiser James Barton today promised a bigger and better event than ever, extending the dance festival to two days for the first time to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Other acts taking part in the August extravaganza were expected to be announced later today.

Mr Barton said: “It is amazing that even after 10 years, Creamfields is still evolving as a festival.

“I know we say this every year, but this year’s line-up is the best to date and, with some really imaginative changes to the format of the show, we hope we have laid the foundations for the next 10 years.”

Kasabian have garnered massive success with their legendary live shows, and won Best Live Act award at last year’s NME Awards.

Their last album Empire went in straight in at number one and has sold in excess of 700,000 copies.

Singer Tom Meighan said: “We are made up to be headlining Cream fields.

“We have heard great things about the festival over the years and it is an honour to be asked to headline on its 10th anniversary.

“It will be great to bring our sound to a fresh northern crowd.”

The festival will take place for the third time at the leafy Cheshire setting of Daresbury Radio 1 will be covering the event, broadcasting a mix of live music and DJ sets throughout the weekend.
