Gavin & Stacey Set for US Small Screen
HIT sitcom Gavin & Stacey has been snapped up by an American television company.
US giant NBC has bought the rights to the British show – famed for putting Barry on the map – and plans to re-stage it for American audiences.
Gavin & Stacey tells the story of a whirlwind romance between an Essex boy and Welsh girl and was written by Bridgend-born Ruth Jones in partnership with James Corden.
The hit series has since won honours at the British Comedy Awards.
NBC plans to portray Gavin as from New Jersey and Stacey from South Carolina in the deep South.
The pair will meet in Times Square in New York.
A second series of Gavin & Stacey is due to be screened later this month.
