Live Music: Don’t Let a Monday Keep You From Shows, Green Beer on St. Patty’s Day

Mar. 13–Well somehow it is already March, and you know what that means: green beer and “Kiss Me, I’m Irish” shirts. So get ready for Irish car bombs and green everything on Monday night (yup, it falls on a Monday, but the party must go on).

Check out the live music in honor of St. Patty’s Day and the other shows going on around town in our calendar below.

Thursday, March 13

* Voodoo Gracenotes, Stillborn Unicorn and The With Dave Trio are playing Fantasia Espresso & Tea, 1324 Cornwall Ave. on Thursday. The all-ages show starts at 7 p.m. with a $3 cover.

* Marion Walsh is playing a show at the Green Frog Cafe Acoustic Tavern, 902 N. State St., on Thursday. The 21-and-older show starts at 9:30 p.m.

Friday, March 14

* The Russians, New Faces and Not Me Not Now are playing at WhAAM’s Old Foundry, 100 Maple St., on Friday. The all-ages show is $5 and music usually starts around 8 p.m.

* Local bluegrass favorites Sweetheart of the Rodeo is playing with The Shook Twins at Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro, 1107 Railroad Ave., on Friday. The show is 21 and older, starts at 10:30 p.m. with a $3 cover.

* Let It Come Down, Rishloo and Mischievous Conduct are playing at the Rogue Hero, 1313 N. State St., on Friday. The 21-and-older show starts at 10 p.m. with a $4 cover.

* Jenni Potts and Oh Voices are playing Western’s Underground Coffeehouse on Friday night. The all-ages show is free and starts at 8.

* Flowmotion is playing at the Wild Buffalo on Friday. The show starts at 9 p.m., with tickets $10 before the show and $12 at the door.

* Colin Spring is playing the Green Frog Cafe Acoustic Tavern on Friday night. The show starts at 9:30 p.m.

* Blind Fate is playing at The Fairhaven Pub & Martini Bar, 1114 Harris St., on Friday. The 21-and-older show starts at 9:30 p.m.

* Friday is open mic night at Fantasia Espresso & Tea, featuring Cara Alboucq. The free evening starts at 6:30 p.m.

* Michelle Weaver is playing the Three Trees Coffeehouse, 118 W. Holly St., on Friday. The all-ages show starts at 8 p.m. with no cover.

Saturday, March 15

* The Braille Tapes, The Cherubs and The Ronz are playing at the Old Foundry on Saturday. The all-ages show starts at 8 p.m. with a $5 cover. Expect good things from The Braille Tapes.

* Candy Apple, Counselor and Invention are playing at the Rogue Hero on Saturday. The show is 21 and older, starting at 10 p.m. with a $4 cover.

* Local dance cover group Spaceband is playing at The Fairhaven Pub & Martini Bar on Saturday. The show starts at 9:30 p.m.

* Megasapien, Cinis Cineris and Ravages of Time are playing an all-ages show at the Common Ground Coffeehouse, 351 Pease Rd., in Burlington on Saturday. The show starts at 7 p.m. with a $5 cover.

* Soul Wagon is playing the Green Frog Cafe Acoustic Tavern on Saturday, with music starting at 9:30 p.m.

* Drew Emmitt Band is playing at the Wild Buffalo, with the show starting at 9 p.m. There is a $12 cover before the show and $15 cover at the door.

* Piano player Conrad Spotts is playing the Three Trees Coffeehouse. The all-ages show starts at 8 p.m. with no cover.

* “Through the Ages” is an all-ages event on Saturday, including live music from Yogoman Burning Band, Lucas Hicks, who will be calling a square dance, Jeremy Ball, Neurainet, Jack Sassenfeld and Rashaan. Along with the music, there will be street performances, fire dancing, art installations and belly dancing. You are invited to wear costumes to the event, which is at The Majestic, 1027 N. Forest St., with tickets $12 in advance and $15 at the door. The evening begins at 8. Tickets are available at Everyday Music, the Community Food Co-op and brownpapertickets.com.

Sunday, March 16

* The Black Swan and Memes are playing on Sunday night at the Temple Bar, 306 W. Champion St. The free show starts at 8 p.m.

* Sunday is Jasmine Riley’s open mic night at the Green Frog Acoustic Tavern. This week the evening features Jeff Krein, with music starting at 8 p.m.

Monday, March 17

Monday is St. Patrick’s Day, so get ready for some celebrating, great live music and green beer.

* The Growers is playing the Wild Buffalo’s St. Patty’s Day celebration, with acoustic band Grandpa’s Guitars opening the show. The cover is $4, along with Irish drink specials and the show starts at 9 p.m.

* Patient Patient, Tender Situation and Sirens Sister are playing the Rogue Hero. Music starts around 10 p.m. with a $4 cover.

* Go Slowpoke, Kayla Jeffres and Platespinner are playing the Green Frog Cafe Acoustic Tavern on Monday. The show starts at 9 p.m. with no cover.

* The Paddy Whackers is playing Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro. The show starts at 10:30 p.m. with a $5 cover.

* Acorn Project is playing at the Callaloo Caribbean Kitchen, 1212 N. State St., on Monday, along with Blessed Coast DJs Ryan I and Triple Crown. The show is $5.

* Spaceband is playing The Fairhaven Pub & Martini Bar. The show starts at 9:30 p.m.

Tuesday, March 18

* Hammell on Trial and Robert Sarazin Blake are playing the Green Frog Cafe Acoustic Tavern on Tuesday. The show is $12 and starts around 9 p.m.

* Tuesday is open mic night at Western’s Underground Coffeehouse. Sign-ups begin at 6:30 p.m. with music starting at 7 p.m.

* Tuesday is the Jazz Jam at Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro. Music starts at 8:30 p.m. with a $1 cover.

* The Mamacitas are playing an all-ages show at Fantasia Espresso & Tea. Music starts at 7 p.m.

* Tuesday is open mic night at the Three Trees Coffeehouse, featuring Wendy See. Music starts at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, March 19

* Ghost Dad, Into the Storm and Lung Panther are playing an all-ages show at Fantasia Espresso & Tea. The cover is $3 with music starting at 7 p.m.

* Jazmarae Beebe and Dawn Angelosante are playing Western’s Underground Coffeehouse on Wednesday. The all-ages show starts at 8 p.m. with no cover.

* Felix Sonnyboy Wilson and the Muddy Boots are playing Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro on Wednesday. Music starts at 8 p.m. with no cover.

* Neil Stone’s CD release party is on Wednesday at the Wild Buffalo, along with open mic night. Sign-ups start at 7:30 p.m. with music starting at 8 p.m. There is no cover.

* Craig Cardiff is playing the Green Frog Cafe Acoustic Tavern on Wednesday. Music starts at 9 p.m.
