BELLY DANCING and Chinese karaoke were just two of the highlights of a college’s week-long celebration of international culture.

Instructor Vanessa Gooding led the belly dancing for the Celebrating Diversity Week at Hartlepool Sixth Form College.

Students also enjoyed Indian food and watching Bollywood movies.

The college has 14 Chinese students who encouraged their fellow students to take part in a karaoke session during the Oriental day, which also saw demonstrations of origami, Chinese food, writing and a drumming session.

Traditional Easter celebrations to mark British and Christian culture, including an Easter bonnet competition, hot cross buns and tea party, ended the week. Vice-principal Carole Horseman said students were represented across all the featured cultures.
