Lang Lang, Dracula, Three’s Company
By Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Texas
Mar. 28–The world of classical music produces few young superstars these days, but 25-year-old Chinese pianist Lang Lang certainly falls in that category. He’s done most of the important talk shows, been featured in Vogue and GQ, and played at the Grammy Awards this year, probably in part due to that hipster spiky hair. Now all he needs is a smack-down with Tommy Lee, and he’ll be set. Cliburn Concerts brings Lang Lang — also known for his technique on the 88s — to Bass Hall, performing a program that includes Mozart, Schumann, Granados, a Wagner-Liszt transcription and six traditional Chinese compositions.

Dracula
Vampires have long been a popular subject for movies and TV, so why not a full-length ballet? Ben Stevenson premiered his version of Bram Stoker’s Dracula in Houston in 1997, and it has since become a hot property. The Fort Worth Dallas Ballet did it before Stevenson came on board and renamed the group Texas Ballet Theater. Now, they’re doing it again, this weekend in Dallas, with the title role played, at alternating performances, by Lucas Priolo, Carlo Coomer and Peter Zweifel. It is also performed April 18-20 at Fort Worth’s Bass Hall.
8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Music Hall at Fair Park, Dallas. $18-$74. 877-828-9200; www.texasballettheater.org.
Three’s Company
First of all, plaudits to Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth for moving its performances out of the dreadful Orchestra Hall and into the more audience-friendly Sanders Theatre. Next, we’ll push the group’s spring event, a show called “Three’s Company” because it features performances by CD/FW, North Carolina’s Caroline Calouche & Co. and Austin’s KDH Dance Co.
8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, Sanders Theatre, 1300 Gendy St., Fort Worth. $10-$15. 817-922-0944; www.cdfw.org.
Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth
The season closes with pianist Alessio Bax, performing Brahms’ Piano Quartet in G Minor. The musicians also perform works by Leclair, Schubert and Mozart.
2 p.m. Saturday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St. $18-$22. 817-877-3003; www.chambermusicsocietyoffortworth.com.

Snake Eyes at the Mardi Gras Motel
Perhaps having a recurring role on Friday Night Lights inspired local playwright Steven Walters to pen this work about a football coach who murders his star quarterback. It has its world premiere by the company Walters co-founded, Second Thought Theatre.
Thursday through April 20 at Addison Theatre Centre, Studio Theatre, 15650 Addison Road, Addison. $20. 972-450-6232; www.secondthoughttheatre.com.
