Harris Delivers HD Radio Broadcast Transmitters to American Public Media

Posted on: Thursday, 3 April 2008, 09:00 CDT

Harris, a communications and information technology company, has delivered its 13 HD Radio broadcast transmitters to American Public Media for its group-wide HD Radio broadcast initiative, targeted for completion in December 2008.

The phased rollout also includes three HD Radio upgrades to existing Harris Z-Series analog transmitters and Harris FlexStar HD Radio broadcast products at each station for multicasting initiatives.

Doug Thompson, director of engineering for American Public Media, said: "The introduction of the FlexStar family of HD Radio broadcast products, notably the FlexStar HDX exciter, drove our interest in Harris for HD Radio transmission. The FlexStar equipment is easy to set up and administer, and we are confident we have a reliable platform already in place as more of our stations explore multicasting."
