‘Arrr’Dition for LifeHouse’s ‘Treasure Island’
REDLANDS – Open auditions for LifeHouse Theater’s musical adaptation of “Treasure Island,” directed by Jeffrey A. DeWitt, are scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Apri; 17, at the theater, 1135 N. Church St., Redlands.
Auditions will be held on a first-come, first-served basis. Those auditioning should be at least 15 and bring a recent photo to leave with the audition panel. Boys between the ages of 10 and 15 are welcome to audition for the role of Jim Hawkins. All are welcome and roles are open for men and women. Men are especially encouraged to audition.
Auditioners should bring their own sheet music in the preferred key, and be prepared to sing a selection of about 16 measures. A pianist will be provided but will not transpose any music. Pre- recorded accompaniment, instrumental only, is allowed, provided it is on a CD.
“Treasure Island” opens at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 21. Performances continue weekends through July 20, at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, 2:15 and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays and 2:15 p.m. Sundays. There will be one Thursday evening performance, at 7:30 on July 17.
The musical, written by writer-producer Wayne R. Scott with film and stage composers Jason and Nolan Livesay, contains the memorable elements of the novel and a few added surprise twists. Intrigue combines with double crosses, a treasure chest, sword fights and the unraveling of secrets.
