Britons Lined Up for Bush Film
April 9, 2008
Britons Thandie Newton and Ioan Gruffudd are in final talks to play US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice and former prime minister Tony Blair in a film about George W Bush’s White House, according to US reports.
Oliver Stone’s film W will look at Mr Bush’s formative years, as well as his life inside the Oval Office. Newton, 35, is the first non-American to be cast for a role in the US administration and is seen as one of the film’s pivotal figures. Gruffudd, 34, will play Mr Blair, in key scenes on the Iraq war opposite No County for Old Men actor Josh Brolin, as the President.
