Image Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ:DISK), a leading independent licensee, producer and distributor of home entertainment programming in North America, announced today that it has signed a North American distribution agreement with Jaguar Distribution Corp, the foremost independent supplier of film and entertainment content to the in-flight and maritime marketplace, worldwide.
The agreement calls for Jaguar to exclusively distribute all Image content, where the Company holds the rights, to the world's airlines for in-flight viewing and merchant marines. The two-year agreement covers both short form, theatrical and non-theatrical releases.
"In-flight viewing has become a major distribution outlet for entertainment content, and Jaguar has the relationships that will bring our properties to the forefront of this market," said Steve Saltman, senior vice president of worldwide television for Image Entertainment, Inc. "There is strong demand not only for feature films, but for short form content as well, such as music concerts and comedy specials."
"The growth of the personal, in-seat video systems aboard the world's airlines demands an expanded diversity of programming to provide each passenger with a wider choice of entertainment," said Jeff Klein, president of Jaguar. "Image's current and classic libraries of feature films, comedy specials and music will strongly meet those needs for a culturally broad airborne audience of all ages. We're very happy to be working with Image."
