Mario Lopez Queues Up for ‘Chorus Line’
U.S. actor and television personality Mario Lopez said he is ready to make his Broadway debut in the stage musical A Chorus Line.
Lopez is best known for his work on the 1990s teen sit-com Saved by the Bell, as well as for his fancy footwork on TV’s Dancing With the Stars.
He is to give his first performance as the director-choreographer Zach in A Chorus Line Tuesday, the New York Daily News said.
I’m ready to go, Lopez, 34, told the newspaper. I’m all good.
The entertainer said he thinks the part is a good one for him since Zach is very focused, so am I.
I love that the show is so iconic and such a strong ensemble piece, Lopez said. And that it’s got so many great messages. You don’t have to be in show business to relate to the idea of striving for a dream.
Although Zach dances at the beginning and end of the show, he doesn’t sing a solo, the Daily News noted.
I can carry a tune, but that’s it, Lopez admitted. I’m not a dancer, I’m an actor who moves OK. But I’m a pretty quick learner. I work really hard.
