‘Girl’ Tops David Awards With 10 Wins
The movie The Girl by the Lake has won 10 awards at the annual David di Donatello film awards ceremony in Rome.
The thrilling film from director Andrea Molaioli, which focuses on the investigation into the appearance of dead girl’s body, earned Molaioli awards for best director and first-time director, Variety reported Friday.
The movie also earned a best picture statuette, along with awards for best screenplay and producer.
Argentinian cinematographer Ramiro Civita also won for his work on Girl and editor Giogio Franchini was recognized for his efforts on the drama.
Girl lead Toni Servillo won a best actor award for his part in the film, while actress Margherita Buy was honored for her role in Days and Clouds.
Variety said the movie Quiet Chaos had been nominated in 18 categories at the Rome ceremony, but the Antonello Grimaldi-directed picture ultimately only won two music awards and a best supporting actor award for Alessandro Gassman.
