Icing on Cake at City Station
SMOOTH Radio, which broadcasts across Greater Glasgow and parts of west and central Scotland, is celebrating its first year this week under its new name.
The station, formerly Saga 102.5FM, is now aimed at those aged 40- 59 and has a weekly total of 199,000 adult listeners, up 10,000 on the previous quarter.
They are also tuning in for 2.2million hours a week, meaning they listen for an average of 11 hours each – up 5-per cent quarter on quarter.
Gerry Burke, the station’s head of presentation, said:
“The most exciting thing I have noticed is how warmly the audience has reacted to the station.
“You can’t get this mix of music elsewhere on the dial and we are always being told how much it is appreciated.”
Smooth Radio has a market share of 6.4-per cent, slightly more than Clyde 2, but well behind Clyde 1FM, which has 13.7-per cent.
