ED in '08 to Mark the 25th Anniversary of A Nation at Risk By Screening Provocative Film on America's Education Crisis for Washington, DC High School Students

WASHINGTON, April 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- To mark the 25th anniversary of A Nation at Risk at the end of this week, ED in '08 will fuel the debate about America's education crisis by screening the provocative new documentary, Two Million Minutes, which highlights two countries, India and China, that have implemented changes from the 1983 report. After the screening, high school students from Friendship Public Charter School Collegiate Academy in Washington, DC will engage in a panel discussion with two Indian students from the film on issues, such as standards and extending school hours. The event will take place at the newly opened Newseum on Friday, April 25th, at 11:00 am.

The film is produced by Broken Pencil Productions (BPP) and tracks students in the United States, India and China as they are completing their high school diplomas and competing for entrance into college. The film shows evidence that America's students are not prepared to compete in the global economy and invites viewers to engage in a discussion about the issue.
