Studios Looking Forward to Summer Releases

U.S. box offices are reporting revenues were running 2 percent behind the same period last year.
During the January-April period in 2007, three titles each grossed more than $100 million, with one, 300, taking in more than $200 million, Variety reported Tuesday.
So far this year, only one film -- Horton hears a Who! -- reached the $100 million threshold, taking in $147.9 million through Sunday.
Leading in market share year-to-date is 20th Century Fox -- with 23.6 percent -- which successfully mined the family film market with Horton Hears a Who!, 2007 holdover Alvin and the Chipmunks and Fox-Walden's Nim's Island.
Industry analysts said the order of market share is bound to change once summer gets under way Friday with the release of Paramount and Marvel Entertainment's Iron Man and Sony's romantic comedy Made of Honor.
