Theater Workshops and Camps Planned for Summer
By BEAVERCREEK R&R DIANA BLOWERS
Whether you just want to test the stage or you’re interested in improving your theatrical skills, the Beavercreek Community Theatre may have something for you.
BCT will offer classes and workshops this summer designed to help children, teenagers and adults learn more about the world of theater.
The classes and workshops are the latest in a continuing growth pattern for the theater that presented its first show in December 1995.
For many years the group of dedicated thespians presented live theater in a variety of rented venues before moving into its own permanent home for the 2006-07 season.
BCT shares the Lofino Adult Enrichment and Cultural Arts Center, at 3868 Dayton-Xenia Road, with the Beavercreek Senior Center.
During the 2006-07 season, BCT added two new production arms: the BCT Children’s Theatre and Edge of the Creek Productions, which produces more adult shows than BCT’s normal family-oriented entertainment.
This summer, BCT is adding another dimension to its program with the addition of the theater classes and workshops, taught by Teresa Connair of Dayton.
Connair, who has appeared in or directed more than 100 productions locally, is the director of the BCT Children’s Theatre and teaches acting classes for children and adults at Rosewood Arts Centre in Kettering at the Oakwood Community Center.
