U.S. comedian, actor and writer Chris Rock has broken the record for largest comedy audience in the United Kingdom, Guinness World Records officials confirmed.
The BBC said Rock performed his stand-up act in front of 15,900 fans at London's O2 arena in the first of two scheduled shows.
Rock broke the record set by British comic Lee Evans, who performed in front of a crowd of 10,108 at Manchester's MEN Arena in 2005.
The BBC said Guinness World Records officials were at Rock's show to ensure their rules were met.
The show's promoters announced at the end of the performance that the attempt to break the record had been successful.
The audience was measured by the number of ticket stubs taken at the venue's box office, the BBC said.
