A Big Day Out for ‘Supersnail’

Meet Stephen. He’s a giant African land snail and he’ll be one of the stars of the Newquay Zoo exhibit at the countryside area of the show.

He may be a little bigger than your average garden snail, but at three-and-a-half years old, Stephen has a lot of growing to do.

Fully grown, he will weigh-in at something like a kilo and will be a real handful.

He will be part of the mini-beast exhibit in the zoo tent in the Countryside Area. Appearing with Stephen will be a number of his colleagues from the zoo, including millipedes, cockroaches and two west African royal pythons.

Although the snakes will be behind glass most of the time, they will be brought out when staff, including presenter Jamie Strike, give talks and demonstrations throughout the three days.
