Harry McCracken Partners With Federated Media to Launch 'Technologizer'
Posted on: Tuesday, 10 June 2008, 09:00 CDT
Federated Media Publishing (FM) and Harry McCracken, the former editor in chief of PC World, today announced Technologizer, an independent technology information site that will launch this summer. Technologizer will feature original news, reviews, analysis and community features for the general technology consumer from the novice PC user to the seasoned technology fanatic.
Harry McCracken is a technology journalism veteran with deep roots in the industry and undisputed credibility and journalistic credentials. From 2004 to 2008, McCracken was Editor in Chief of PC World, one of the most trusted, award-winning resources for technology news in print and on the Web. McCracken's writing has also appeared in Slate and USA Today, and his expertise has been tapped by numerous television and radio outlets including CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, BBC, the History Channel and many more.
"Everything I've done in my career has led up to this," McCracken said. "I've been in technology journalism for close to two decades and I've found the right partner to help me strike out on my own. FM's attitude is in perfect sync with the mission I foresee for Technologizer. I consider myself extremely lucky to be able to use the world's most exciting medium - the Web - to help people make the most of the technology in their lives."
Federated Media will leverage its Web development capabilities and long-standing relationships with brand marketers to help McCracken roll out the new site. McCracken owns Technologizer and will retain full control over its content and editorial voice. Technologizer will join FM's Tech Federation, a grouping of sites that includes other properties developed in partnership with FM such as WebbAlert and Boing Boing Gadgets, as well as blog pioneers such as Michael Arrington of TechCrunch and Om Malik of GigaOm.
"We are very excited to bring Harry McCracken and Technologizer on board," said Neil Chase, vice president of author services at FM. "We're honored to be in on this from the start, and we know that Harry's voice and journalistic credentials will make this site indispensable for technology consumers as soon as it launches."
