The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)(R) today announced a partnership with the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) for the 2009 International CES. As part of the partnership, NATAS will launch a new Global Media Awards program focused on technology and content programming at the 2009 CES. Produced by CEA, the 2009 International CES, the world's largest event for consumer technology, will return to Las Vegas, January 8-11, 2009.
"The International CES is the global intersection of digital entertainment and technology," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. "The companies responsible for bringing new digital media and content to consumers around the world deserve special recognition and the International CES is the perfect venue for this new awards program. We're thrilled to partner with NATAS to bring this new collaboration to the CES show floor."
Peter O. Price, President and CEO of NATAS, applauded the joint initiative, noting, "The Academy is proud to extend and deepen its relationship with the single most important convocation of international media professionals by jointly staging this prestigious recognition on the opening night of the CES tradeshow. We anticipate wide participation and attendance at the ceremony, which will invite entries from a broad spectrum of creators, producers and distributors of content and technologies."
A call for entries for the Global Media Awards and details about the ceremony on January 8, 2009, will be released later this month. For information about the Global Media Awards, contact Paul Pillitteri at ppillitteri@natasonline.com.
