Representatives for Johnny Prez say the hip-hop artist has formed Prezident Music, a production company and record label based in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The company also will open a satellite office in New York next month, the Celebrity PR Co. said.
Prezident Music is expected to release Prez's next CD Imperdonable, which will feature appearances by Lil Wayne, Akon and Jamie Foxx, later this year.
The company has also been working with Princestar, a 17-year-old Puerto Rican rapper from Brooklyn.
Production on Princestar's album is scheduled to begin shortly at the Prezident Music studios in San Juan with a projected winter 2009 release.
We are extremely excited about Princestar; he is extremely talented, unique, genuine, down to earth and full of energy. He reminds me a lot of Johnny -- both have positive messages in their music and aim to please their audiences, Ruben Malaret, manager for both Prez and Princestar, said in a statement.
