Madhavans Playing Solo
By SMITA ROY
Madhavan or 'Maddy' as people lovingly call him was shooting in Mumbai recently for a Hindi film.
The actor who's mostly doing South films is currently doing Piyush Jha's next called Sikandar where he plays the role of an army official. A major portion of the film has been shot in Kashmir.
"It was great to meet the Gujjars in Kashmir. Especially when they started singing songs from Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, I was totally flattered," said the actor enthusiastically. The film also stars Sanjay Suri and Rahul Singh.
Maddy juggled between the shots to tell us more about his current affairs. He has completed a Tamil film and in Hindi he has Bombay Meri Jaan which is on the verge of release. He also awaits Teen Patti where he shall be sharing screen space with the Big B.
After Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, the actor has been seen in cameos and guest appearances in Hindi films. Ask him why and he says, "Fortunately or unfortunately, the roles that I've come across for solo projects weren't as interesting as the ones with an ensemble. But I'm doing a Hindi film called 13B where you shall see me as a solo hero."
His passions, other than movies, are golf and aero-modelling and he simply retires to them whenever he manages to cut out some time from his 'super' busy schedule. Coming from a television background would he like to someday go back to TV given the fact that these days most of the Bollywood stalwarts are heading to the T-zone? "I'm happy doing what I am doing and I don't think I would like to go back to TV anytime soon. Also, they are all big stars and it would be far more exciting for them as it's all big money! I am quite small in comparison," he said modestly. But he does plan to do more Hindi films and moreso as the solo protagonist.
