Inner-City Music Program "Back in Tune" Thanks to the Echelon Club!

Posted on: Tuesday, 1 July 2008, 00:14 CDT

With just one month to go before Bell Gardens High School closed its music program, much to the disappointment of the talented music pupils, Wonder Woman Kimberly Moore stepped in and pulled on the heart strings of her Echelon Club members to donate brand new musical instruments, keeping the school pupil's studies and dreams alive!

Kimberly Moore, CEO of The Echelon Club and Founder of the Adopt-A-Letter campaign, was inspired by 16yr-old student, Grissel Luna, who along with her classmates, felt devastated at the thought of suddenly losing their much loved music lessons. The urgent situation prompted Ms. Moore to form an instrument charity drive and beat the state education school budget cuts, winning another successful campaign called, "Keeping Harmony Alive."

Luna says, "We are all so passionate and we struggled because without enough instruments, it put us all in a position in which we had to share instruments or drop out of class. Some of our instruments were old, cheap or severely damaged. With Echelon's support, we can now continue our music education and show the audience what we can do at such a young age."

To raise awareness, Ms. Moore quickly organized an event attended by her high-profile members, celebrity guests and top music industry professionals. As admission to the event, all invited guests were urged to bring a musical instrument to support the program, collecting dozens of instruments at a time, making it a huge success!

Right on target, a surprise U-Haul full of over a hundred instruments was delivered to Bell Gardens High School during the last week of school. There, Ms. Moore was greeted and congratulated by the Mayor, Chief of Police, and many others from the Bell Gardens community.

"Kimberly Moore's gift could not have come at a better time," says music director, Frank Rico. "The generosity of The Echelon Club has provided our music program with at least 15-20 years of security with fine musical instruments. It is a dream come true not only for the students, but for me. I have spent countless hours trying to get the best equipment for my students. Now that they have it, we can relax and watch them enjoy their new instruments."

The Echelon Club has supported numerous global charities and has inspired hundreds of others to take part in making a difference in their own communities. For more information visit: www.theechelonclub.com
