Film Festival Event Offered in Unity

July 9, 2008

UNITY – Unity College will hold the Maine International Film Festival Pre-Party from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at the Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts on Depot Street.

The party is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

A trailer of the documentary film “A Road Not Taken” will be among the works screened during the festival. The film was shot in part at Unity College and involves installation of solar panels atop the White House in 1979 by former President Carter as a statement about the need to conserve and develop sources of alternative energy. The panels were ordered removed by former President Reagan in 1986. In 1990, the panels were retrieved from government storage and brought to Unity College.

Details of the 2008 Maine International Film Festival are available at www.miff.org/about.
