Frenetic Kinetix at Busch Gardens

By Jasmine Mckeiver, The Free Lance-Star, Fredericksburg, Va.

Jul. 10--Back for its third season at Busch Gardens Europe in Williamsburg, Kinetix is a Cirque de Soleil-style show that is unique to the theme park.

According to Bonnie Gililand, Busch Gardens' entertainment director, Kinetix is a "high-energy, athletic nighttime show set to contemporary music -- where acrobats, dramatic lighting and driving rock 'n' roll music come together to create a great night of entertainment."

This summer season has added new thrills to the show.

"We add new elements each season to keep the performance fresh," Gililand said. "The 2008 season is 100 percent different from years past, replacing the trampoline and juggling with high-energy acts such as hoop diving, silk acrobatics and spinning bungee."

Kinetix has even brought in acts from distant lands to seriously spice up this season's show.

"This year, we brought in acts from China. They have taken the show to an all-new level," said Gililand.

This show is made up of 20 acrobats, eight dancers, two singers and four band members in each performance.

Five dancers in the show are originally from Virginia.

"Kinetix is a one-of-a-kind production that has proven itself to be popular with our guests. We strive every year to make Kinetix special for our audience," said Kevin Crossett, Busch Gardens' senior communications manager.

Since Busch Gardens is known for its shows, the park's entertainment team is always on the lookout for the most unique productions. "Kinetix fits the bill," Crossett said.

Busch Gardens Europe, located in Williamsburg, is about an hour and 30 minutes from Fredericksburg, and offers rides and shows for visitors of all ages. Kinetix runs nightly at the Royal Palace Theatre.
