Iran has placed two important provincial channels on satellite, Esfahan provincial TV reported on 10 July.

Provincial TV channels from Kordestan and Ilam, both on the border with Iraq, were put on satellite on 10 July by the head of the radio and TV organization, Ezzatollah Zarghami.

Speaking at a ceremony in Sanandaj, the capital of Iran’s Kordestan, Zarghami said “the provincial TV channels would become available, like the national channels, throughout the country in the near future”.

Iranian radio and TV organization’s news website (www.iribnews.ir) cited Zarghami on 10 July as saying: “Kordestan shines like a jewel on the map of Iran and the people of the province have been a source of honour for the country.” Zarghami added: “The Kordish people are the most prominent part of the Iranian nation. The enemies of the Iranian nation who intended to take away the Iranian identity of the people of this province were engaging themselves in futile act because the Kordish are the most Iranian of all Iranian people.”
