Dos Americas Duo Plans 2 Shows

Jul. 11–The contemporary classic guitar duo Dos Americas will showcase Latin American and original compositions during concerts in Pueblo and Canon City.
Dos Americas features Argentine virtuoso Alejandro Davila and Canon City guitarist and composer Jim Bosse. The duo have been performing together for the past seven years, giving more than 100 concerts in North and South America.
Davila is a graduate of the prestigious guitar program at the National University in San Juan, Argentina, where he now serves as a professor of guitar. Bosse began his musical career performing as a teen in a New York rock band with Billy Joel.
The duo will perform music by Argentine composers Astor Piazzolla, Jorge Cardoso and Jose Paredes. They also will perform several of Bosse’s latest compositions for guitar ensemble.
Greeley guitarist Steve Waechter will make a guest appearance to perform some trio pieces with Bosse and Davila. The concerts are slated for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 414 W. 11th St. in Pueblo, and 2 p.m. July 20 at the Skyline Theater, 606 Main St., in Canon City.
“The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is one of our favorite venues because the acoustics are incredible. There is no admission charge, but they will take a collection during the intermission,” Bosse said.
Cost to attend the Canon City concert is $15 per person, $10 for seniors or $5 for students. Advance tickets are available at Skyline Vision Clinic, Fremont Center for the Arts or Cross Music.
