People – Brinkley, Cook Make Peace to Settle Divorce
Christie Brinkley's lurid divorce trial came to an abrupt end Thursday when lawyers for the former supermodel and her fourth husband reached an out-of-court settlement that gives her custody of their two children.
Brinkley will give her estranged husband, architect Peter Cook , $2.1 million but will keep 18 properties in the Hamptons. Cook also will get time with the children.
"It's everything I asked for," said Cook, 49.
The couple were married for a decade before Cook's affair with a teenager catapulted their troubles into the public spotlight in 2006.
Despite a prenuptial agreement, the couple had feuded in court over child custody and bickered over the properties Cook advised Brinkley to buy in the Hamptons.
The couple have a daughter, Sailor , 10. Cook adopted Brinkley's 13-year-old son Jack , whom she had with husband No. 3, Richard Taubman .
The children's attorney, Theresa Mari , said Thursday that both parents "worked very hard to do this in the best interest of the children."
Brinkley also has a daughter, Alexa Ray Joel , with second husband Billy Joel.
Brinkley's first husband was artist Jean-Francois Allaux .
'Live fast, die young' inspired fashion
Be not ashamed of your uncontrollable urge to strut whenever you hear the song "Electric Feel." Turns out MGMT really was destined for the catwalk, and not just because of the two dudes' danceable beats, but their lean-hipster-dude threads as well.
Just ask Gucci's creative director, Frida Giannini. She recently dedicated her Spring 2009 menswear collection to the Brooklyn psychedelic synth-rock outfit, which includes former Memphian Andrew VanWyngarden .
MGMT's overall persona and sound inspired Gucci's new style, dubbed "hippie/gypsy chic." The opener for Oracular Spectacular, "Time to Pretend," seems to have been Giannini's main muse, particularly such lines as "this is our decision to live fast and die young." Appropriately, it played as the final song of the fashion show.
Downey to star as Sherlock Holmes
Robert Downey Jr. is trading Iron Man's metal suit for Sherlock Holmes' deerstalker hat.
Downey is following his action blockbuster "Iron Man" with the title role in "Sherlock Holmes," a mystery drama based on Arthur Conan Doyle's detective and an upcoming comic-book about Holmes by Lionel Wigram , one of the movie's producers.
Guy Ritchie is directing the Warner Bros. film, which is set to begin shooting in October, the studio said Thursday.
No other cast members have been announced .
