THEY have performed alongside Josh Groban, Bob Hope, Steve Allen and Melissa Manchester. They are the most widely travelled boy’s choir in the world and they will perform in Kuala Lumpur as part of their Asian tour.

The All-American Boys Choir – a bunch of the sweetest looking boys with neatly parted hair – will offer an interesting compilation of music that will suit most music lovers.

The youngsters, aged between eight and 15, will perform different styles and genres, building on the versatility of the boys choir, a tradition of high energy and good old fun.

Their repertoire, entitled What A Wonderful World, is perhaps an apt title for their musical journey this season which takes them from Disney theme songs to Broadway and even jazz and country `n western.

Among them are Westside Story (by Leonard Bernstein), Be Our Guest (from Beauty And The Beast) as well as On The Sunnyside Of The Street and Rags Medley.

Later in the evening, the young men take on a more serious note. Dressed in surplice and cassocks they present works from 19th century French composer Charles Gounod including Lovely Appear and Ave Maria and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s mesmerising Laudate Dominum.

When the boys aren’t singing, they undergo training and sessions that aim to turn them into outstanding musicians and leaders in their community.

The young men will be performing from July 18-20 at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre.

The premier show is organised by the Rotary Clubs of USJ and Kelana Jaya in aid of the Selangor Spastic Children Special programme while the Gala Charity Show the next day is hosted by the Malaysian Medical Association Foundation. Proceeds from the gala event will go towards MMAF’s activities for the needy such spectacles for children in rural schools and intra ocular lens implants for the elderly in rural areas.
