Patricia’s Prize Win is Magic
A 13-year-old Glasgow girl has become the first to beat the boys to a top title for her magician skills .
Patricia Duncan swept aside the competition at the Northern Magic Circle in England – the first Scot to do so and the only girl to ever win the competition.
The third year Woodfarm High pupil was also the first to win both the ‘close up’ and ‘stage’ sections of the Junior Day contest.
Now she’s planning her first show, to be held on October 31 at Eastwood Theatre, where she will host other magicians from around the country in a Hallowe’en spectacular.
Patricia said: “Magic is quite difficult to learn and takes a lot of practice – I practice three times a week. I really enjoy performing for people and want to be the best female magician in the world.”
Proud dad Alan, 39, who is a performer himself and honorary life president of the Glasgow School of Magic, said: “It’s nice to bring the trophies back to Glasgow. Patricia has won so many awards already and she’s only 13. It’s brilliant to see her doing so well.”
Magic isn’t limited to dad and daughter either, 16-year-old son Alan took up the craft aged five and now does Houdini-type escapology tricks. In 2000 he beat his own dad and many others for the title of Scotland’s Magician of the Year .
