NEW YORK, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- How much is a click worth to you to make a difference? Online music retailer AmieStreet.com(R) today named Creative Visions Foundation as the lead charity partner in a new benefit music campaign, "Download To Make A Difference," using online music downloads as a simple way for people to support humanitarian causes- with just the click of a mouse.
The new partnership kicks off with AmieStreet.com donating $2 to Creative Visions for every free download of the new single, "Anything," by composer- philanthropist Peter Buffett and multi-platinum star Akon.
The benefit single is exclusively available at AmieStreet.com/CreativeVisions. With only a few clicks, anyone can support positive change and enjoy a free download from Emmy-award winning Buffet and chart topper Akon.
"The Creative Visions Foundation is thrilled to partner with AmieStreet.com in an exciting experiment in social good, beginning with the powerful collaboration between hip hop icon, Akon and musician/philanthropist Peter Buffet, who are inspiring and empowering people to change the world around them," says Creative Visions co-Founder, Kathy Eldon.
Founded in 1999, Creative Visions Foundation was inspired by the life of Dan Eldon, the youngest photojournalist ever to shoot for Reuters, who was tragically murdered while covering the Somali conflict in 1993. CVF supports and nurtures "creative activists" - people who use art, media and technology to inform, inspire, and empower others to catalyze change.
Of the campaign, Elias Roman, co-Founder of AmieStreet.com, says: "We are excited to connect music fans with this fantastic organization. Creative Visions is dedicated to addressing issues affecting us all, and we couldn't be happier to offer people a simple way to support these important causes."
Peter Buffett's mix of acoustic and electronic sounds on "Anything" marks his ever-increasing musical depth and desire to explore new boundaries. Buffett began his musical career in advertising, TV and film, and is arguably best known for his work in the landmark film, Dances with Wolves.
Aliaune Thiam (aka Akon) spent his young life in Senegal, returning to the U.S. at age seven and settling in New Jersey. Son of jazz musician Mor Thiam, Akon's debut CD, Trouble, proved a fascinating mix of rap, West African-styled vocals and East Coast and Southern-beats.
