TV Stands Recalled for Tip-Over Risks

Posted on: Friday, 18 July 2008, 12:00 CDT

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Studio RTA distributed television stands due to a tip-over risk.

The television stands, made in China and distributed by Studio RTA of Pico Rivera, Calif., do not meet industry standards to prevent risk of the stand and television falling onto consumers, a CPSC statement said.

No injuries have been reported, but 6,700 of the Silhouette TV stands were sold through Shopko and Boscov's stores from September 2007 through June 2008 for about $140 each.

The recall involves model No. 403650 brushed silver and black and No. 404101 black stands, CPSC said.

Consumers were advised to remove televisions from the stand and contact Studio RTA for a free repair kit.

Consumers can also call Studio RTA at 888-309-0299 for more information.
