‘Mad Men’ Named Top Series at TCA Awards

The original AMC series Mad Men was named program of the year on U.S. television at the Television Critics Association awards event in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The Hollywood Reporter said in addition to being named the year’s top TV series, Men captured awards at Saturday’s annual TCA event for best new program and best dramatic series.

Meanwhile, NBC’s 30 Rock was named best TV comedy series by the critic group and Rock star Tina Fey was honored for individual achievement in comedy.

John Adams star Paul Giamatti was recognized for individual achievement in drama while the HBO historical drama won for best movie, miniseries or special.

Variety said Saturday Night Live Executive Producer Lorne Michaels was given a Career Achievement Award.

Other top awards included a best in children’s programming nod for PBS’s WordGirl and an award for achievement in news and information for The War: A Film by Ken Burns & Lynn Novick, also from PBS.
