Writer’s TV Soap Debut
WOULD you Adam and Eve it? North author Fiona Evans will make her television debut tomorrow for a London soap.
The Newcastle playwright has penned an episode of the drama EastEnders.
The job comes after she won a place on the BBC Writers Academy.
And it won’t be the last time she’s on the Aunty Nelly – cockney slang for telly – with more episodes of EastEnders on the way.
She will also contribute stories to Casualty, Holby City, and Doctors.
Fiona, 38, who was brought up in Sunderland, said : “You are given a rough outline of what happens but it is up to you how you tell the story.
“You still get the chance to put your own stamp on the show.”
Tony Jordan, lead scriptwriter on EastEnders, passed on a few tips.
Fiona said: “He said the secret was not to do the big dramatic things but take a Monday episode where nothing happens and make it interesting.”
In tomorrow’s episode Bradley is in court on a driving charge, Ronnie has a black eye, and Clair may get a mystery caller.
