City Set for Pipers’ Trail Show
ONE of the biggest spectacles of Scottish music this summer is to be performed in Glasgow today.
George Square will host the Pipers’ Trail Parade with a display of bagpipes, drummers and a theatrical performance. It’s on between 11am-noon and again from 3pm to 4pm.
The event is a celebration of the Army’s links with Scotland through music and runs in the city until Sunday.
Brigadier David Allfrey, Commander of 51 (Scottish) Brigade, said: “The Army in Scotland has a long and established relationship with pipe and drum music.
“Through various events we have been encouraging more people to play, learn and enjoy traditional piping music.
“The intention of the Pipers’ Trail is to provide, through the medium of bagpipe music and highland drumming, an insight into Scottish culture.
“With Scottish soldiers serving around the world, the Trail is helping to connect them with their local communities through a shared passion for music.
“We invite people of all ages to come and enjoy the celebrations in Glasgow and hope to continue inspiring Scots everywhere.”
The Pipers’ Trail will finish in Edinburgh next week ahead of the city’s annual Military Tattoo on August 1.
