Music Fan YouTubes Tent Drama
A WELSH music-lover was stunned when a mini tornado appeared to suck a two-man tent up to 100ft into the sky before dumping it back down yards from where he stood.
Daniel Granger was at the three-day Oxegen music festival in County Kildare, Ireland, where about 80,000 people flocked last weekend to watch some of the biggest names in music perform.
Daniel, who is from Connah’s Quay but moved to Ireland to work in 2000, captured the freakish weather phenomenon on his mobile phone and posted the video footage on internet site YouTube.
The video has been viewed thousands of times since and shows the tent swirling uncontrollably way up in the air before crashing to the ground just inches from other gobsmacked festival-goers.
Fortunately, it landed between two enormous campsites but could have cause serious injury as it appears to still have the tent poles attached.
Daniel, who now lives in Dublin but whose sister Rachel, 26, had travelled from Connah’s Quay for the festival, said he didn’t even know what he was looking at when he started filming.
“To be honest at the time we thought someone was flying a bin bag,” said Daniel, 29.
“It was a black, two-man tent; there wasn’t a top sheet on it.
“As it landed, you can hear on the video somebody shouting ‘free tent’.”
