Past, Meet Future

July 22, 2008

By Pam Firmin, The Sun Herald, Biloxi, Miss.

Jul. 22–Songs and video clips from past productions of KNS Theater will highlight its 20th anniversary program of “Any Dream Will Do” at 8 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Saenger Theater in Biloxi.

This is KNS’ first major fundraiser since Katrina. Proceeds will help replace some of the props, costuming and equipment lost to Katrina. Sponsors are the IP and Beau Rivage casinos.

The Saenger’s big movie screen will form the stage backdrop, with excerpts from old videos of past productions shown throughout the event.

Live vignettes will be performed from past performances, including the 2004 encore version of “The Wizard of Oz.” Jacqueline Coale, who played Dorothy, will appear on stage to sing “Over the Rainbow.”

The title, “Any Dream Will Do,” is taken from “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which KNS theater has performed three times.

Looking into the near future, Tammy Turnage will sing “I’m Crazy” and “I Fall to Pieces” from KNS’ upcoming “Always Patsy Cline,” starring Turnage.

Instead of the traditional playbill-size program, audience members will receive a free 8 1/2 -inch by 11-inch magazine full of collected photographs from KNS’ past, paid for by Beau Rivage.

WLOX personalities Rhonda Weidner and Jim Tabor will be hosts. Performers include Karen Abernathy, Keith Ballard, Ronny Broussard, Jacqueline Coale, Loree Dalgo, Savee Dalgo, David Delk, Meggan Gray, Becky Green, Joel Herr, Jeremy Jones, Mike Lacy, Amber Mills, Glenda O’Neal, Vanessa Pierce Rodriguez, Wayne Stephens, Tammy Turnage, The Von Trapp kids and cast members from KNS’ “The Sound of Music.”

Lori Dalgo is director and Andy Dalgo producer.
