CBS Wins Slow Monday Ratings Race: FOX Tied With CBS in Adult Demos

A slow night of repeats on CBS nevertheless won the network first place in households against its competitors’ first-run summer programming Tuesday night.

CBS averaged a mere 5.1 rating/9 share in primetime, barely beating FOX’s 4.7/8. NBC finished third in households at 3.2/6, ahead of ABC’s fourth place 2.1/4. The CW was way back at 0.9/1.

In the adults 18-49 demographic, CBS and FOX tied with a 2.2 apiece, just ahead of NBC’s 1.7. ABC stayed in fourth at 1.1, followed by and The CW, 0.5.

A repeat of “Bones,” 4.3/8, allowed FOX to take the lead at 8 p.m., although CBS wasn’t far behind with is combo of “The Big Bang Theory” and “How I Met Your Mother” reruns averaging at 3.8/7 for the hour. NBC’s “American Gladiators” came in third with a 3.0/5, with ABC’s “High School Musical Get In the Picture” taking a 2.2/4. The CW went with a “Gossip Girl” rerun.

In the 9 o’clock hour, CBS pulled ahead with its comedy combo of “Two and a Half Men” and “The New Adventures of Old Christine” averaging a 5.7/9, while FOX’s rerun of “House,” gave it a firm second place with a 5.2/8. Once again, NBC followed with a 3.6/6 for “Nashville Star” and ABC’s “Wanna Bet?” garnered a 2.1/3. A “One Tree Hill” repeat drew a 0.8/1 for The CW.

CBS’s “CSI: Miami” rerun triumphed in households at 10 p.m. with a respectable 5.7/10, while “Dateline NBC” was far behind with a 3.2/6. ABC finished in last place for the hour with “The Mole” drawing a 2.2/4.
