‘Little Shop of Horrors’ Sure to Be a Scream — Tickets on Sale for Kudzu Musical

July 22, 2008
Repost This

Kudzu Playhouse will present the well-known and much-loved “Little Shop of Horrors” July 25-Aug. 3 at Hernando Performing Arts Center.

The rock musical, written by Howard Ashman with music composed by Alan Menken, is about a nerdy florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood. Known for catchy songs, such as “Suddenly Seymour,”"Somewhere That’s Green,” and the title song, this show has become a toe-tapping, laugh-out-loud stage smash that spoofs its very own beginnings as a 1960 low-budget, sci-fi, horror movie. The musical was then made into a film directed by Frank Oz in 1986 starring Rick Moranis, Ellen Green and Steve Martin.

Kudzu Playhouse is proud to bring some of the Mid-South’s hottest talents together, and in some cases back together, to stage this timeless classic for Kudzu audiences.

Directed by Amy Cooper, who was most recently seen in Kudzu’s production of “Noises Off,” the cast features Krelborn Justin Smith as Seymour, Mandy Lane as Audrey, Carey Vaughn as Orin (et al.), Justin Asher as the Voice of the Plant, Patrick Ashcraft as Mushnik, Stefani Everson as Ronnette, Emma Crystal as Crystal, Sheila Clark as Chiffon and Stephen Tate as Audrey II (The Plant).

Show times are 7 p.m. for Friday and Saturday performances, and 2 p.m. for Sunday performances. Tickets are $16 for adults; $13 for seniors, students, and Kudzu members; and $10 for children under 12. For reservations or additional information, please call (901) 590- 6153 or visit kudzuplayers.com.
