‘Producers’ Auditions to Be Held Sept. 2-4
Auditions for the Charleston Light Opera Guild’s fall performances of “The Producers” will take place during the first week in September.
The three evenings of tryouts for the local adaptation of the Broadway musical comedy, based on the 1968 Mel Brooks motion picture which itself was remade in its musical incarnation in 2005 with Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Will Ferrell and Uma Thurman, will start promptly at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
Singing and acting auditions will be conducted on Tuesday, Sept. 2 and Wednesday, Sept. 3.
Singers should be prepared to present a musical selection demonstrating their vocal range and ability (preferably a number from the show). If the selection is not from “The Producers,” singers are requested to bring corresponding sheet music for the CLOG accompanist.
Scripts will be provided by the guild for acting auditions.
Dancing auditions will be on Thursday, Sept. 4. Dancers should wear appropriate shoes and clothing suitable for movement. Combinations will be taught.
All auditions will be held at the Light Opera Guild theater, 411 Tennessee Ave. on Charleston’s West Side.
“The Producers” will be performed in early November at the Charleston Civic Center Little Theater. It is the first of the Light Opera Guild’s Diamond Anniversary productions, to be followed by “HMS Pinafore” in January and “South Pacific” in May.
