North Korea: Women’s Union Marks War Victory Day

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) – Women’s union members’ celebration of the Day of Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War titled “July 27, the Day of Victory, Will Last Forever under the Guidance of the songun [military-first] Illustrious Commander of Mt. Paektu” was held at the plaza of the Monument to the Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War on Friday.

Put on the stage were such colourful numbers as narration and chorus “July 27, Day of Our Victory,” dialogic poem “Grit of Brilliant Commander of Mt. Paektu”, quartet “Long Live Generalissimo Kim Il Sung [Kim Il-so'ng]” and duet and chorus “Song of Blessings”, an immortal famous work.

The performers sang high praises of the feats President Kim Il Sung [Kim Il-so'ng] performed by wisely leading the army and people with his rare military wisdom, distinguished commanding art and iron will and courage and winning shining victory in the war.

They also presented a series of wartime songs “At the Spring Site”, “Nobody Knows” and “My Dear Has Become Hero” and trio and story-telling “Yebbuni” and other numbers deeply impressing the audience as they truthfully represented the noble spiritual world and optimistic life of the Korean women in the days of the hard- fought war.

Their repertoire included vocal solo “Tell, the Course of songun [military-first]” which praises leader Kim Jong Il [Kim Cho'ng-il] for wisely leading the struggle for the defence of socialism and the building of a great prosperous powerful nation and a series of songs “The General Employs the Art of Compressing Space” and “Thunder on Jong Il Peak”.

Among the audience were Kim Chung-rin [Kim Jung Rin], secretary of the Central Committee of the Korean Workers’ Party.
