July 26, 2008

Image: Horror heroine.

Best Known For: The blockbusting Scream trilogy.

Early Life: Campbell was born in Guelph, Canada, in 1973. Campbell’s parents divorced when she was two. She and brother Christian mainly lived with their father until Neve moved to the National Ballet of Canada at age nine. Campbell moved from dancing into acting at the age of 15, performing The Phantom of the Opera. Recurring injuries persuaded her to switch her ambitions from dancing to acting.

Career: Her first starring role was playing Daisy on the Canadian youth TV series Catwalk from 1992 to 1994. She rose to wider fame outside of Canada after being cast as Julia Salinger in the US drama series Party of Five. Although Campbell’s first widely released film was 1996′s The Craft, she reached the height of her success when she appeared in the successful Scream horror film trilogy followed by Wild Things. She was on People’s ’50 Most Beautiful People’ list in 1998.

Love Life: Campbell married Canadian actor Jeff Colt on April 3, 1995. The couple, who met when he was a bartender at Toronto’s Pantages Theatre, divorced in 1998. In 2005, Campbell began dating John Light, an English actor who she met while filming the movie Investigating Sex. The couple became engaged in December 2005 and married last year.

Don’t Mention: Her injury list while dancing as a teen. They included shin splints, fallen arches, pulled calf muscles, cracked ribs, a bunion removed from her big toe, snapping hip syndrome, tendonitis, bursitis, and stress-induced hair loss.

Quote: “I have the ugliest feet in the world.

But even if I didn’t dance, they would still be ugly. My toes are too big!”
