Actors Being Sought for That Scottish Play

A plymouth theatre company is to stage Shakespeare's famous 'Scottish play', Macbeth, in October.

The Tamerton Village Players are to put on their production in Plymouth and Tavistock.

In May, TVP performed Little Shop of Horrors at the Devonport Playhouse.

The drama group, from Tamerton Foliot, said it had been 'very nervous' about whether they would attract a large enough audience to be financially viable, but spokeswoman Paula Gerry said: "It was a fantastic experience for us all.

"We learnt a huge amount from performing in a proper theatre and a big thank-you to all of the people who came to watch. The feedback has been very positive."

TVP's next show will be Macbeth, to be performed from October 16 to 18 in Devonport, with an additional date at The Wharf in Tavistock.

Paula said: "As they're a relatively small group, casting all the male parts has proved difficult. The director of the show, Peter Clarke, wants to appeal to anyone who has an interest in Shakespeare and wants to be considered for a role to contact him on 01752 214048."
