Del Toro Producing ‘Dark’ Remake
Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is producing and co-writing a remake of the classic 1973 TV horror movie, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.
Del Toro has directed the two Hellboy films, as well as Pan’s Labyrinth.
The Hollywood Reporter said Dark is to mark the feature directorial debut of comic-book artist and writer Troy Nixey.
The film will be about a girl sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend, who makes the harrowing discovery that there are menacing creatures living beneath the stairs, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
It has always been a dream of mine to work on a project with Guillermo, my favorite filmmaker, Nixey told The Hollywood Reporter. I had no idea it would be on my first one out. Miramax’s faith in me is everything a first-time director could ask for.
