"The Festival has gained a reputation as a must do event in New Jersey," explained Baye Adofo-Wilson, LPCCD Executive Director. "Because of its strong art and music attractions, the Lincoln Park Music Festival has become a new travel destination for New Jerseyans and people throughout the US."

The Lincoln Park Music Festival: A Celebration of Spirit and Dance began on July 24 with the opening of "Music Speaks" a jazz photography exhibit. Friday, July 25 was proclaimed "James Moody Day" in the City of Newark. Audiences enjoyed a musical history lesson as hosts Amiri Baraka and Sheila Anderson of WBGO introduced jazz greats James Moody, Cyrus Chestnut, John Lee, Dennis Mackrel, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Ensemble tribute to Johnny Hodges, and TS Monk Band with special guest Alyson Williams.

Saturday and Sunday drew a sea of people into Lincoln Park. The audience danced all day with host Shelton Hayes and house music legends Rochelle Fleming, DJs Joe Claussell and Hippie Torrales, and a Sylvester tribute. The Rock Steady Crew delivered a classic performance to celebrate its thirty-first anniversary. The show featured G3 dancers from Japan, Craig G and Marley Marl, Grand Master Caz, Soul Sonic Force, Fat Joe and a female emcee cipher with Bahamadia and Rece Steele.
