The Broadway revival of Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls… has been delayed due to the loss of one of the production’s key backers, producers said.

Previews of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf were initially slated to begin Aug. 19 at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre, in preparation for an official opening Sept. 8.

Directed by Shirley Jo Finney and choreographed by Hinton Battle, the play is to mark the Broadway stage debut of Grammy Award-winning singer India.Arie.

Tickets for the production have not yet gone on sale.

A revised production schedule will be released as soon as it is available, the producers said.
